Bought it today and it looks awesome. Haven't had much time to play it, but from what I have played it seems brilliant. The graphics (on XBOX 360) are amazing, the story line is interesting and the characters are great as well. I'll check back in after I've played it some more :P

Well i'm a bit scared to get it because from what i have read it's really linear now. There is no towns any more and that if you want to know what is happening with the story you have to read a lot of stuff in the menu. But reviews aren't always right so i'm waiting to hear what gamers think

I do read reviews, but I only take them into consideration when I don't know the game or the series. The review is (obviously) from the point of view of the person writing it, and everyone has different interests etc. You can only make your own mind up. Although if you don't like the game, it's an expensive mistake :P

I have played it for a little longer now, but not long enough to know about it being too linear (although I have heard this too, and also a lot of RPGs are oging down this route too). However from what I've seen, it looks good. The storyline is just as epic as all the others, probably one of the best. The characters are all great, well-written and likeable. It can be funny in places, but never drops the seriousness.
(All of this is from only 2 hours of play :P)

One problem I have is with the battle system. I'm not a big fan of it. They always change it up a bit, but it always keeps to the same style, but this one drifts a little further.

If you're a Final Fantasy fan then I'd get it. However if you're not too sure, wait 'til you can get it pre-owned or it drops in price so you can get it for a little cheaper.

I have this too. I think it's a vast improvement on Final Fantasy XII, which for me was very disapointing. It wasn't even like a Final Fantasy game. This one's much better. A simplified battle system similar to the days of old but made more fluid. The graphics make my jaw drop, as do most Final Fantasy games. Even the voice acting's not as bad as I expected. A bit too easy so far but it may get more challenging as I get further. I've only played it for 2 hours aswell. I'd recommend it if you like RPG's or Final Fantasy.

I'm thinking of getting this game soon. I've been watching reviews and "Let's Play ____"s of the game and it does look interesting. I've never played a Final Fantasy game before, so i'd like to know if it would be good introduction to the series.
Now before any of you say "If you want to play FF you should start at the beginning" or "FF7 was the best, play that first", I'm only interested in playing this one at the moment. Reason being that at seems like a good place to start. It doesn't seem like a bad game, but like people have said, it seems a bit linear and aren't sure if that's good or not. I think in general people seem a bit cautious towards purchasing it at the moment because they arent perfectly happy with what reviews are telling them. However, the main reason I'm considering this version is that it's the latest, the graphics look amazing, the characters look cool and a lot of people I know have started playing it too. So is that enough to have a good lot of enjoyment out of the game dispite it being kinda linear?

I would recommend getting this one if you're new to the series because it's so short and easy. Definately the shortest and easiest Final Fantasy I've ever played. The longest was Final Fantasy X and the hardest was Final Fantasy I. They knew how to make some good RPGs back then.

I could have finished it quicker if I wanted to but I did a few sidequests and grinding. So I think my game completion time was between 70-80 hours. Then when I went for the achievements that can only be unlocked post game it reached 106 hours. I'm not getting the treasure hunter, fell a heavyweight of the lower world wilds, 5 star every cieth mission and five star the last boss achievements though. Mainly because they take too long and also because I'm bored of this game now.

Final Fantasy X was quite easy for me, didn't take too long. I think IX is quite long and fairly hard. I don't think I'd recommend the new one if you want to get into the series, but it's a good game in it's own right.

X for me was easy except for that stupid underwater mini game. I don't know why this game took me so long to finish. Maybe I only spent a short amount of time playing it each day. IX was hard. Wasn't that the one where the last boss could kill your party in one move? I only ever got as far as the beginning of disk two. Same with VII. I've started again on VII though this afternoon and I grinded for four hours to get my party to a staggering, wait for it... level 15. I actually did it because for some reason I thought it was be a good idea to buy 99 iron bangles. So I farmed until I had enough ethers to sell for the required 15840 gil. What can I say, I clearly have no life. It was worth it though as I was able to one shot the second boss. After playing this today, I'm changing my opinion and reccomending Final Fantasy VII as the first one to try.

This is the first FF game ive played, apart from Crisis Core (but that doesnt really count haha), I think this game is great. My friends, who are more experienced with FF games like it too, they say its a mixture of all the FF's in one.

This next part MAY contain spoilers but I dont think so, but just put it incase.

The graphics and story are both great. Currently Ive played for about 38 hours and am on chapter 11. The only bad thing I think is with the charcters, I started to play with Fang, Lightning and Hope as after looking at their stats and abilities and finding out Hope learns Haste (synergist move), I thought they were the best. I started to level up my characters and wondered if they were the best team and from all the stuff I found they were the favourites. Apart from Snow being a better SEN than Fang and Vanille being the best medic, which I thought didnt really matter because lightning was doing a good job as medic and I pretty much never use Sentinal, which made those characters useless. I also really Like Sazh as a character and apparently he has the worst stats in the game. So this left me a bit dissapointed by that, BUT overall I would give this game a solid 80%.

When you max out everyone's stats and get the best weapons/equipment for everyone, sazh becomes one of the best ravagers. Snow is the best sentinel, Hope is the best medic, Lightning is the best commando and Fang is the best saboteur. Not that I had the patience to get all the best weapons. I maxed everyone's stats though. Had a few tier 3 weapons. Still not enough to beat the Long gui. :(

So have you completed it?
can you tell me some stuff then lol like:

SPOILERS!

How many Levels are there in the Roles?
After beating the guy who pretended to be Serah do you complete the missions or can you do it after you board the ship his owl turns into or is that like the final part of the game or when you board the ship do you go to cocoon but you come back?
After you beat the same guy mentioned above, your Crystarium expands, when does it expand again? (because it expanded but not to another level, do you have to get on the ship I mentioned above to expand it?)

Cheers.

The ship does indeed go to cocoon and then there's about another 20+ hours of the game left to do. By the time you get to the last boss your crystarium will have reached level 9. After you complete the game and load your save file, the crystarium will expand one final time and everyone will be able to access all roles. You cannot complete every single mission until you have completed the game. However some are accessable. To beat some of the more challenging missions it really helps if you max out everyone's crystariums and have a few tier 3 weapons and of course the limit breakers. They're quite challenging to get hold of though. You have to beat some really tough missions to earn them.
